RAJA FORT(JHARIA)
Raja fort is also known as Rajaghar fort. Raja Sri Sri Durga Prasad Singh built this fort . During his term, Jharia flourished, as the Raja was a man of foresight, and a good businessman, he prospered from
his coal mines, from trade and business, he purchased and invested in properties in various parts of India, he built roads, temples, a Fort and many other buildings. About his personal life he married 1stly, Rani Prayag Kumari, she died after 1932, married 2ndly, Rani Subhadra Kumari, married 3rdly, Rani Hem Kumarii, she died after 1955. And then he died on 7th march 1960.The present Jharia house is an offshoot of Palganj in Hazaribagh and
was formerly established at Katrasgarh.Even today the ancestral house cum fort of Jharia Raj family stands at Katras. As per family history,
the zamindars were originally from Rewa in Central India and established their kingdom in the area around Jharia in year 1763.In 1864 the Jainagar estate was bought by the Jharia estate. The village
of Katras contains the residence of the zamindar, which according to tradition was formerly the head-quarters of the Jharia Raj before this was split up into the separate houses of Katras, Jharia and Nawagarh.It became one of the richest zamindari estates of Bengal Presidency
after the coal was discovered in the lands underneath and mining started in decade of 1890 in the area.Jharia was founded in the 16th century by two brothers, both brave soldiers, who came from Rewah in order to extend and expand their empire. One of the two brothers settled in Bihar and the other in Orissa. The estate was bounded on the east to Baliyapur, on the west by the River Katri, on the north by Barwada (Jainagar) and on the south by Sindri to the River Damodar.

brave troopers, WHO came from Rewah so as to increase and expand
their empire. one among the 2 brothers settled in province and also the alternative in state. The estate was delimited on the east to Baliyapur, on the west by the stream Katri, on the north by Barwada(Jainagar) and on the south by Sindri to the stream Damodar.Today we won't be able to see the Glory of the fort or anything that is present around it. i.e there is a pond which is also known as RAJA TALAB and it was one of the beautiful places in earlier times because
in the middle of the pond it has a small fort where the king was spends time with his queen in the evening . Just like this there are many more places which have been destroyed over a period of time. Our
government never looked for these things or tried to save the monument.
The historic Raja Talab of Jharia developed by the erstwhile King of
Jharia estate, Late Durga Prasad Singh, is ready for a makeover by the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation once years of lying during a cesspit of garbage and filth thanks to body apathy.The civic body has finalised a young price Rs 2crore for change of state of the pool placed over eight.46 acres of land close to the recent fort ofJharia estate within the heart of the city.The maintenance work, regular to start during a day or 2, can embody change of state of ghats, putting in pavement blocks, concrete recliners and lights round the pool.
